become active citizens through peace-building and development. NAR’s mission is
to enhance citizens’ capacity to analyze the root causes of conflict and
facilitate dialogue among peers in order to generate ideas and activities that
work towards sustainable peace and socio-economic development.
NAR has 4 core programmes including:
- Peacebuilding
Programme - Governance
and Rights Programme - Research
Programme and - Great
Lakes Peacebuilding Programme
As far as research is concerned, NAR, through
a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, engages citizens and other
relevant stakeholders in a constant exercise of identifying and analyzing major
challenges to peace and eventually propose possible solutions to address them.
Research is therefore vital in NAR work as it enables the organisation to
engage with policy-makers on the basis of evidence-based
material.
