as a vacancy for a General Technician
S1 (L).

Main
purpose of job:
Providing
general technical repairs (Plumbing and Electrical repairs) to DFID &
British High Commission (BHC) houses and office buildings. Repairing of white
goods (Fridge, Washing Machine and cookers).
Roles
and responsibilities:
The
General Technician will be supervised by the Estates Manage and s/he will be
working closely
with
the Estates and Technical Team.
  • Carrying
    out Electrical & Plumbing repairs as per Work Requests from officers
  • Follow
    up Preventive Maintenance Plan as directed by Estates Manager or Technical
    Work Supervisor (TWS).
  • Carrying
    out the electrical and plumbing routine preventive maintenance Estates
    works.
  • Ensure
    the contractors complete the work as per agreed Terms of Reference and per
    BHC standards
  • Ensure
    estates tools and materials are well stored and managed
  • Any
    other work related to plumbing, electrical and white good as directed by
    the Line Manager or TWS.

Skills
/ experience / qualifications required:

Essential on
arrival:
  • Should
    have at least an
    advanced diploma in Electricity
    and a training certificate
    of at least 6 months in plumbing
    or vice-versa.
  • Should
    have a minimum 5 years experience in similar work (plumbing, Electrical
    work and basic repair of white goods- Cooker, washing machine etc).
  • Very
    good knowledge of Electrical and plumbing work
  • Knowledge
    of water distribution and waste water disposal in residential, commercial
    and industrial buildings
  • Experience
    of identifying requirements and implementing a plan to meet them.
  • Organisation
General
Technician S1 (L)
  • Fluent
    in both English and Kinyarwanda
Desirable:
  • Knowledge
    in white goods (Fridge, Washing Machine, Microwaves, etc.) repairing and
    other technical works
  • Knowledge
    of UK standards
  • Basic
    knowledge of procurement
  • Valid
    Rwanda driving licence, category B
