Title: Leadership and Management
Course Developer and Course Deliverer
Location: UGHE Rwanda
Introduction:
The University of
Global Health Equity (UGHE) is a groundbreaking health sciences university in
Rwanda that is training t
he next generation of global leaders from around the
world in health care delivery, and serving as a global intellectual hub for
delivery science. Owned and operated by Partners In Health (PIH), UGHE is a
private institution leveraging expertise and resources from the Government of
Rwanda, Harvard University, and other partners to create a global forum for
delivery-focused teaching, research, clinical care, and implementation.
With innovative
curricula rooted in the principles of health equity, and incorporating the
latest advances in education technology, UGHE will offer undergraduate and
graduate programs in medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, and
global health delivery.
The Master of
Science in Global Health Delivery (MGHD) is the inaugural program at UGHE. The
University seeks a Leadership and Management Course Developer and Deliverer to
develop and to deliver a MGHD Leadership and Management course. The course will
be developed between December 2015 and February 2016 in collaboration with the
Kigali-based UGHE Teaching and Learning team. The course will be delivered over
two intensive weekend sessions in Rwanda: 4-6 March, 2016 and 22-24 April,
2016. Additionally, and as needed, time (maximum 3 hours) can be allocated and
scheduled for evaluation in addition to the aforementioned weekends. Ideally,
the course will be developed and delivered by the same individual; however,
UGHE is willing to consider a team approach whereby one individual develops the
course and one individual delivers the course.

Through leadership and management training, students should gain mastery in the
following areas to implement well-designed programs and to skillfully manage
people:

change, people, and one’s self (i.e. leadership development including
presentation skills and communication) - Project

- Design
action plans and implement solutions to address challenges faced by health
service delivery organizations.

- Train
and mentor others in the field of global health delivery. - Engage
in practices that lead to lifelong learning as well as personal and
professional development (public speaking, professional networking,
conference participation, etc.). - Demonstrate
leadership to promote organizational development. - The
ability to provide constructive feedback to subordinates, peers, and
superiors.
The MGHD
Leadership and Management Course Developer and Deliverer will commit to:
- Developing
and delivering an interactive and top-notch leadership and management
course per the learning objectives relevant for diverse executive-style
students working across the Rwandan health sector.
- Working
closely with the UGHE Teaching and Learning team to oversee the
development, instruction, coordination, and evaluation of the course.
- Responding
promptly to student and administrative requests during the employment
term.
- Supporting
students outside of the classroom via in person and online modalities
during the course.
- Mentoring
students undertaking initiatives related to the course.
- Participating
in the evaluation of students in a timely and comprehensive manner
consistent. - Adhering
to the UGHE Code of Conduct.

Experience
and Qualifications:
- Graduate
level training that includes significant and diverse management and
leadership experience with attention to global health and equity/health
disparities. - Experience
teaching leadership and management to master’s level students and/or
professional audiences. - Experience
teaching in Rwanda or in other relevant contexts. - The
ability to teach in English. - The
ability to teach in Rwanda. - Experience
mentoring and coaching master’s level students.

calendar including the number of course development days required.
