ump AID Malawi is implementing a 3 yr Small Scale Business Development and
Community Mobilisation for Clean and Healthy Urban Slums Project in sanitation
in Blantyre
This is a multi
stakeholder and multi partnership project where other partners have activity
components that will feed into the components AYISE will be implementing to
realise the objectives of the project

The project will
stimulate a robust and sustainable commercial market for household water
treatment and safe storage products on one hand and solid waste management on
the other in Blantyre through demand creation, business and supply chain
development and encouraging govt participation, The project is being
implemented in partnership with Pump Aid, AYISE and WASTE, AYISE is seeking
qualified individuals to fill the following positions

The position works
closely with communities in transforming their lives, through hands on
mobilisation and facilitation of communities particularly sanitation
entrepreneurs in the implementation of the WASH project in the target area in
contributing to the attainment the project goals and ultimately improving
health and social wellbeing of people in urban slums

Responsible for the
implementation of project plans that seeks to strengthen solid waste
management, water and sanitation particularly household water treatment for the
well-being of communities in the target area, Promote good hygiene practices
among the community members in collaboration with the directorate of health
within the Blantyre City Council and the peripheral structures, (HSAs),
community stakeholders and volunteers, Facilitate capacity building and
training of the sanitation and hygiene management committees, alongside Ward
health committees, key opinion leaders, and beneficiaries of the Water Hygiene
and Sanitation project, with the view to promote participation and ownership of
project activities by concerned staff and stakeholders, Responsible for direct
implementation of various action programmes in the project catchment areas
including specific project activities as well as capturing and documenting
impact stories and identifying promising areas impacted by the project in the
target area, Prepare and submit monthly management project progress reports and
specific activity reports as may be requested using set formats, Community
mobilisation to support the various project interventions, Supporting the
entrepreneurs in effective delivery of their execution of sanitation as a
business model focusing on Household water treatment and Solid Waste
management, Developing creating interventions for value addition to solid waste
and demand creation for the processed products of solid waste for wealth
creation

The following knowledge,
skills and abilities may be acquired through a combination of formal schooling,
self-education, and prior experience or on-job training

Diploma in Environmental
Health or advanced Diploma in Community development, Minimum 2 yrs experience
in related area, Excellent facilitation skills, Excellent analytical skills,
Fluent in English, Good understanding of cross-cultural issues, Good
organisational and time management skills, Ability to ride a motorcycle

Work environment:
spending 80% of his/her time in the office, spending 20% of his/her time
