Location: St. Albert (between Ottawa & Montreal), Ontario
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to learn how to run a
small business growing certified organic vegetables! Luxy Farm is seeking 1
fall intern to start immediately until November 20 to help run our 3.5-acre
market garden, which feeds a 65-member CSA (Community Supported Agriculture
Program) and 2 farmers’ markets in Ottawa.
Duties – interns will assist with:
• Seeding
• Transplanting
• Weeding
• Harvesting
• Greenhouse duties
• Cleaning and packing vegetables while ensuring quality is to Luxy Farm
standards
• Record keeping for a certified organic operation
• Customer service
Interns will learn about:
• The various stages of a variety of vegetables from seed to table
• Irrigation
• Weed, pest and disease management
• Small tools and machinery
Hours:
Workdays are Monday-Friday, 40-45 hrs/week with opportunity to volunteer at the
weekend farmers’ markets.
Salary:
• The salary will start at $100/week and increase to $150/week.
• There is no fee for accommodations and unlimited vegetables are included.
• Accommodations include 2 shared trailers and access to Wifi, phone, laundry
facilities and indoor washroom.
• We also offer an option for interns who want to live off-site; the pay scale
will be adjusted accordingly.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Excellent communication skills in English

• The ability to work fast and efficiently
• The ability to follow instructions
• The ability to work long hours in the heat, cold, wind and rain; most tasks
are performed outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions
