The
Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) is the
independent statutory authority responsible for the overall management and
development of a national curriculum, the National Assessment Program (NAP) and
a national data collection and reporting program that supports 21st century
learning for all Australian students. ACARA is curre

ntly leading efforts to transition
the National Assessment Program, Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN), from
paper-based to computer-based assessments.

ACARA
currently has an opportunity for an Assistant Psychometrician to join a small
team of psychometricians and data analysts on a long-term contract until August
2018.
Reporting
to the Lead Psychometrician, you will be responsible for undertaking
psychometric and statistical analyses to support research and other activities
in transition to online National Assessment Programs.  In addition, you
will act as a project officer for the team, monitoring project development and
delivery, capture and storage of assessment data and files for NAPLAN projects.
The
successful candidate will have demonstrated strong capabilities in research and
analysis using Rasch Models and Item Response Theory with statistical and
programming software.  Your success in applying these to educational
measurement and data analysis will include large-scale assessment at state and
national levels.
You
will have highly developed organisational skills, and experience monitoring
project progress and managing project documentation. Your outstanding
interpersonal skills will enable you to communicate complex concepts to
non-technical individuals and collaborate as part of a team to deliver quality
work within tight project deadlines.
