THE
POSITION We are seeking an experienced and passionate Teacher to work in learning enhancement.
This
role will work across Primary and Secondary and dependent on skills and experience it could be one full-time role or two part-time arrangements. The part-time roles would be 0.6FTE in the Secondary School and 0.4FTE in the Primary School. Role/s to commence as soon as can be negotiated.
The
successful applicant/s will work with respective Learning Enhancement Co-ordinators in Primary and Secondary. In Primary (Prep to Year 6) the focus is on the provision of a gifted and talented program. In Secondary (Years 7-12) the role will be in the provision of the gifted and talented program and/or the provision of support to students with special needs.
SKILLS
AND ABILITIES
The Learning
Enhancement Teacher will:
1. be self motivated
and display personal drive and initiative;
2. be able to foster
collaborative decision-making leading to the facilitation of effective change;
3. be able to relate
to and manage a range of exceptional learners including but not limited to gifted students and students with identified low incidence disabilities and learning difficulties;
4. have well developed
organisational and administrative skills;
5. have strong
communication skills;
6. have the ability to
generate and implement policy and procedures;
7. have the ability to
plan strategically, working with curriculum leaders to develop and document action plans;
8. the ability to
facilitate and chair meetings and work with staff in a variety of subject areas to design and implement student-centred learning experiences;
9. have a high level
of IT competency including use of Word, Excel, Email and PowerPoint;
10. the ability to work
in partnership with students, parents and classroom teachers to achieve the best possible outcome for each individual student.
The
Learning Enhancement Teacher must also be:

a self-directed learner;
·
prepared to approach change positively;
·
flexible in approach and thinking;
·
empathetic to the needs of students and parents;
·
able to support the values and Christian ethos of this Uniting Church College.
EDUCATION
and/or EXPERIENCE
·
Applicants must hold an appropriate tertiary qualification.
·
Experience and expertise in learning support, including students with disabilities and/or gifted and talented programs.
·
It is desirable that applicants have a Graduate Certificate or Diploma in the field of working with exceptional learners.
·
First Aid Certificate – preferable but not mandatory.
