Twin has opened a registered office in
Kigali, Rwanda to facilitate its operations in the East
African region.

2: JOB PROFILE 
JOB
TITLE: SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE PROJECT OFFICER
MAIN
PURPOSE OF JOB
The
job is part of the Producer Partnership Programmes (PPP) team and will focus on
developing sustainable agriculture programme and building the capacity of
Twin’s partner organisations in
East Africa.
This role involves a mix of technical assistance (agronomy, certification),
project coordination and monitoring & evaluation.

Based in; Twin, Kigali Office with extensive travel within EAC Manages: n/a
Receives support from: other members of the PPP team
PART
3: RESPONSABILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 
KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Sustainable
Coffee Production
·        
Technical
assistance to producer organisations on: coffee agronomy, sustainable
production (e.g. soil &water conservation, agroforestry)
·        
Strengthen
the capacity of producer organisations in extension service, environmental
management and climate change adaptation
  • Support the establishment of
    experiments and demonstrations plots including developing robust
    Monitoring and Evaluation plans
  • Remote and in situ mentoring of
    producer organisations
Certification
Schemes
·        
Undertake
feasibility study of various certifications (Organic, Rainforest Alliance)
·        
Develop
in collaboration with Producer Organisations their Internal Control System
(ICS)
·        
Carry
out training on standards for staff and lead farmers
  • Liaise with Certification body and
    accompany producer organisations throughout conversion
Project
management
·        
Project
work planning and monitoring activities against agreed plans
  • Project coordination,
    including maintaining records, collating internal reports and
    monitoring expenditure against budgets
  • Providing logistical support to
    project implementation
Other
·        
Communicate
on a regular basis progress of project to the
London office
·        
Providing
support to African associates/consultants
·        
Collecting
key data to track the performance of Twin’s coffee programme
·        
Any
other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the
nature of the job and its level of responsibility

4: PERSON SPECIFICATION
Skills
and qualifications
·        
A
minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture essential (Master degree in
relevant area preferred)
·        
Good
knowledge of coffee agronomy (essential)
·        
Good
knowledge of agro-ecology, organic agriculture and/or conservation
agriculture
(essential)
·        
Proven
ability to plan, coordinate and monitor project activities (essential)
  • Proven ability to work with financial
    information, preparing and tracking budgets (essential)
Languages:
·        
Excellent
command of Kinyarwanda, English and French (essential)
  • Working knowledge of Swahili
    (desirable)
Experience
·        
Minimum
five years’ experience in coffee extension service and /or coffee development
programme (essential)
·        
Experience
of strengthening the capacity of a producer organisation – (essential)
·        
Experience
of developing and successfully carrying out certification schemes (essential)
·        
Experience
in project monitoring and evaluation (essential)
  • Experience of building project
    proposal (narrative and budget) (desirable)
Other
·        
Excellent
administrative skills including use of Ms Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and
Outlook)
·        
Outstanding
communication skills

Highly
developed, demonstrated teamwork skills
  • Ability to travel within the East African
