User Support Specialist – Old Mutual
Document all pertinent end user identification information, including name,
dept, contact information, and nature of problem or issue , Record, track and
document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all
successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken through to the
final resolution, Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including
installing and upgrading software, implementing file backups, and configuring
system and applications, Diagnose computer hardware and software program
s,
network infrastructure using applicable diagnostic utilities to aid in
troubleshooting, Use good judgement to determine if they can assist the
User/customer immediately or need to escalate the issue to an appropriate
colleagues, Walk Users/customers through problems, train them and respond to
questions about network systems, Any other jobs as assigned by the ICT Manager
Relevant Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Computing and Software Development,
Knowledge of working with Microsoft Products (Operating System and Office
products)
1-2 yrs in a similar position, Knowledge of basic computer hardware, Experience
with desktop operating systems including Windows and Linux, Application support
experience, Working knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities
Good interpersonal skills, Communication (Listening and questioning) Skills,
Report writing skills, Ability to work irregular hours and possess a patient
attitude to deal with a variety of situations and personalities, Highly
self-motivated and directed, Keen attention to detail, Ability to effectively
prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment, Experience working
in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
