Description
SPES promotes awareness of and respect for the
natural world and plays
a leadership role in the stewardship of Stanley Park through
collaborative initiatives in education, research and conservation. We
are seeking an energetic, creative and passionate environmental
educator assistant to connect people of all ages with nature.
Duties
Interact with the public, in a friendly and professional manner, as a
host interpretive naturalist at the Stanley Park Nature House on Lost
Lagoon.
• Develop and maintain activities at the Nature House for adults and children.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Nature House and act as a
resource and support for volunteers.
• Communicate effectively with the Public Education and Outreach
Manager and co-workers regarding upcoming events, programs,
volunteers, maintenance, etc.
• Assist with events and program delivery with co-workers and
partnering organizations.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Criteria
• Enjoy working with people; friendly, energetic and creative.
• Strong knowledge of BC ecology.
• Excellent leadership, organization, teamwork and communication skills.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors, rain or shine as well as
weekends and holidays.
• Willingness to secure First aid certification and criminal record check.
This position is subject to a wage subsidy. Please indicate clearly in
your cover letter that you meet any, all or none of each of the
following requirements:
• Between the ages of 15 – 30 years of age.
• A recent full time student returning to full time studies in Fall 2013.
• Member of a visible minority or aboriginal heritage.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Wednesday – Sunday 9:30 am – 5:30 pm
Pay: $12.50 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of benefits
Start date: June 16, 2015
End date: August 31, 2015
