We’re looking to
hire a temporary full-time Journalist for our Regina
newsroom for a six (6) month term. Postmedia News is introducing a quartet of
freshly designed information products – mobile, web, tablet and print – each
with a unique voice and differentiated content that plays to the strengths of
each platform. We’re looking for an energetic, ideas-infused jou
rnalist with
the capacity to be a key contributor to all four. We’ll also be looking to
you to support our content team and help oversee the cross-platform
distribution of the journalism created by your Leader-Post colleagues.
In addition to
excellent news judgment and communications skills, we’re looking for a
flexible creative with:
- A
degree in Journalism or equivalent experience; experience at a daily
newspaper will be a definite asset.
- The
ability to comfortably and productively work in a team environment, but
who’s able to get it done on their own when required. We’ll especially
value your ability to cultivate sources and independently develop and
execute coverage plans.
- A
capacity to exercise sound journalistic judgment while crafting
compelling content on tight deadlines.
- An
enthusiastic work ethic, proactive approach and the ability to embrace
and adapt quickly to change.
- Demonstrable
ability with the full suite of modern journalistic tools, including
software used to produce multi-media content, relevant internet
technologies and content management systems. Experience and demonstrable
skill with Adobe InDesign will be a definite benefit.
- Demonstrable
experience in developing and managing audiences using social networks
such as Facebook and Twitter. You’ll be skilled at leveraging social
media sites’ content-creation tools in support of our journalistic
objectives.
- A
willingness to work evenings.
- A
driver’s licence is required, as is access to a reliable vehicle.
