MANAGER, FLOOD OPERATIONS
 We
are seeking a dynamic individual to work in our Engineering Department.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering Services, this position is
responsible for the development and delivery of the Authority’s Flood
Forecasting and Warning program, the operation and maintenance of the
flood/erosion control structures and stream gauge network.  This position
is the primary Flood Duty Officer maintaining flood operations and contingency
strategies in accordance with Provincial and local service delivery standards.
The
position is a key technical resource for the design, development and
implementation of the flood forecasting and warning program.
Working
as a valued member of the team, other responsibilities include providing
engineering plan review of applications under the Planning Act, Authority
Regulations and other applications; providing engineering support for the
Source Water Protection program; reviewing and consulting on engineering and
water related studies.
 The
Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority’s watershed is one of the fastest

The
Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority (NVCA), located near Barrie, Ontario,
is a public agency dedicated to the preservation of a healthy environment
providing the expertise to help protect our water and land, and spans
approximately 3700 sq.km. Our jurisdiction includes 18 municipalities in the
County of Simcoe, County of Dufferin, Grey County, and the western part of the
City of Barrie. Our watershed includes significant landform features, such as
the Minesing Wetlands, the Niagara Escarpment, and the Oak Ridges Moraine.
Qualifications:
Typically,
the incumbent has an Honors Degree in Water Resources, Environmental or Civil
Engineering, and 3 years related experience. Incumbent is a Member of the
Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (P.Eng.) or eligible to become
a member. You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work both
independently and as a leader of a team. Progressively responsible experience
in Water Resource Engineering is an asset, as well as good working knowledge of
storm water management, hydrology, hydraulics and natural hazards. You must
have a valid driver’s licence.
