At Nature’s nurturing, we produce high quality certified organic
micro-greens and wheatgrass for wholesale to local restaurants and
grocers. We also retail our micro-greens as well as packaged
superfoods at the farmer’s market in Kitchener, ON. We are a small
farm of mostly soil grown sprouts but in 2013 moved to a farm with
more land available and are developing crop plans for it.


We need superstar planter/harvesters that can work quickly with an
attention to detail and quality. If you like challenging yourself and
want work you can be feel good about, this is the job for you. The
work is physically demanding, repetitive, and at times requires long
hours. Most work is done inside in a climate-controlled building.
Opportunity for outdoor work will be available but limited for now.
Two fulltime planter/harvesters are expected to work cooperatively and
with minimal supervision alongside the manager/owner. The job starts
in April.

Role:

Harvesting is done on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Planting is done Mondays and Thursdays. Wednesday is generally a day
off or a short day. Other roles include watering and brushing sprouts,
cleaning, removing compost, bagging soil, washing trays and packing
orders. Additional work may be available on weekends at markets or at
festivals.

Terms:
• This is a contract position (successful applicants are required to
purchase their own insurance and invoice the company for their work)
full-time work for a minimum of 4 days/week. There are occasional
shorter shifts in sprout-op on weekends which are negotiable
• $12.00/hour

Essential qualifications:
• driver’s license and transportation to get to and from work
• experience working in a fast-paced and/or physically demanding job,
such as being a server, barista, tree planter or landscaper
• work quickly and efficiently to meet strict deadlines (i.e. can “hustle”)
• available to work long days as needed, sometimes on the spur of the moment
• physically fit, especially knees and back (e.g. able to lift and
carry 50lb bags of soil)
• maintain extremely high food safety and quality standards
• quick learner
• accountable and reliable
• work as part of a team and independently

Bonus qualifications:
• strong customer service skills and an outgoing personality
• able to innovate, problem solve and improve efficiencies
