knowledge, insight, time and commitments to promote the science and practice of
the medical specialties. They provide world standard educational, training and
assessment programs, which equip Fellows, trainees and members with the
knowledge and skills to practice.

About
the Role
As
the Media and Campaigns Officer you will use communication strategies to
generate media coverage for the institution. This will involve creating a
strategic direction for the institution’s media activities, identifying
opportunities and responding to incoming media requests. You will also provide
advice on protecting the brand and reducing exposure to potential negative
issues.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead
    and develop the overarching media strategy, oversee its implementation and
    evaluation.
  • Identify
    emerging issues and provide advice on suitable tactics.
  • Monitor
    media and look for opportunities and issues where a response is required.
  • Develop
    relationships with journalists to ensure opportunities are maximised.
  • Build
    creative concepts, which create news and photo opportunities.
  • Develop
    media materials, including media kits, media releases, briefing notes.
  • Identify
    and seek out proactive media sources.
  • Maintain
    a current media database.
  • Organise
    media events.
  • Drive,
    coordinate and actively participate in campaign profile initiatives.
Skills
and Experience
As
the successful candidate you will possess the following key attributes:
  • Experience
    in, media and promotional work
  • Exceptional
    verbal and written communications skills; demonstrable in writing and
    distributing media releases.
  • Capacity
    to develop and foster professional networks and to build and maintain
    effective relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong
    research analytical and problems-solving skills, including the ability to
    find, analyse, synthesise and present information.
  • Confidence
    in public speaking and the ability to communicate complex issues to the
    general public.
  • The
    ability to be proactive, use initiative and bring creative and innovative
    thinking concepts to the organisation whilst translating ideas into
    implementable solutions.
  • Ability
    to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously in a fast-faced
    environment whilst meeting deadlines.
  • Strong
    influencing skills, integrity, focus, diligence, flexibility,
    self-motivated and professional discretion.
  • Tertiary
    qualification relevant to the role, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Occasional
    travel required.
  • Previous
    experience working in a not-for-profit or healthcare industry would be
    favourably looked upon.
