Trust is seeking an Instructional
Designer
based in Ottawa, Canada. This is a full time,
permanent position in a creative environment with a supportive, collaborative,
and solutions-oriented team. We offer flexible working arrangements and

This is a very
hands-on position that will be responsible for the creation of DOT’s learning
program development. You should be able to take complex information and
communicate it in a lucid, concise and accurate manner. You should be
self-directed and team-oriented, able to work with product managers,
developers, editorial, and facilitators to help plan, design, create, write,
deliver, and maintain concise, easy-to-understand learning programs.

You are a
problem-solver with excellent people and communication skills. You will be
required to understand the needs of our customers and deliver useful, usable
learning designed to meet those needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join

Key
Responsibilities

  • Participates
    regularly in product/project team meetings
  • Contributes
    to Style Guide development and apply style standards consistently
  • Adheres
    to and promotes use of DOTs training methodology and framework
  • Drives
    document projects across the project teams to keep with schedules and
    document quality
  • Creates,
    reviews and refines instructional design documents based on learning and
    market needs
  • Designs,
    develops, writes and revises technical documents and training material
    according to established standards and methods
  • Produces
    simple diagrams, graphics and illustrations using Adobe Photoshop and
    Illustrator
  • Produces
    short videos and screen casts using tools such as QuickTime, iMovie,
    Camtasia or SnagIt
  • Produces
    paper and electronic versions of training materials using MS Word, MS
    PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
  • Produces
    eLearning content using rapid development tools such as Adobe Captivate or
    Articulate Storyline

Required
Skills / Experience:

  • Learns

    proven writing and communication skills

    in a small, fast-paced, startup environment
  • Solid
    understanding of product development lifecycles
  • Ability
    to receive assignments as objectives and formulate plans to meet schedules
    and goals required

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency
    with the Microsoft Office Suite for Mac OS X
  • BA/BS
    in Technical Writing, English, Education, or related degree or comparable
    experience
  • 5+
    years experience developing education and training material
