The Friends of Jasper National Park are lookin

g for an Interpretive
Guide/Sales Associate. This is a combined position, which exposes the
employee to experiences in both educational programming and
fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

The Interpretive Guide/Sales Associate will:
• Assist with leading the Jasper: A Walk in the Past historical tour;
• Collaborate with the Jasper Trail Alliance to lead stewardship days
in Jasper National Park;
• Lead outdoor environmental programs, naturalist activities and
guided hikes, as needed;
• Be responsible for all aspects of operating a sales outlet, including:
• Providing quality customer service
• Being involved in stock control and management
• Operating cash register and point of sale software
• Developing knowledge of FJNP services/ products, offering referrals
and assistance as needed
• Daily cash out report and deposit
• Acting as an ambassador for the Friends and informing visitors that
purchases made support programs and projects in Jasper National Park;
• Answer questions in the office and store in a friendly, informative manner;
• Complete duties or training opportunities in other areas such as
office related duties, special events, projects and programs.

Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate for this position will have:
• some post-secondary education in a related field (education, outdoor
education, etc);
• outdoor education, educational programming and/or interpretation experience;
• excellent communication skills, oral and written. Preference may be
given to candidates who are proficient in both of Canada’s official
languages;
• the ability to work with the public and volunteers in a friendly,
positive, and professional manner;
• the ability to use creativity to deliver interactive interpretive
programming for both children and adults;
• strong computer skills, working in a Microsoft environment;
• strong organizational skills with attention to detail;
• creativity, adaptability and the ability to multi-task;
• self-motivation, with an ability to work well on own or with others;
• a passion for wild spaces, the outdoors and Jasper National Park;
• an understanding of the National Park mandate, flora and fauna is
required. We will also send the suitable candidate for further
training;
• the ability to work accurately with cash and a computerized point of
sale system;
• valid first aid and CPR certification (or obtain before the start date); and
• an enhanced security check in order to work with children (or obtain
before the start date).
