Type: internship with room, board, stipend, more (see below)
Organization: Zoltan’s
Location: St. Eugene, Ontario (between Ottawa and Montreal)
We are looking for a hard worker interested in learning a variety of
skills on three small market gardens and a fish and fowl farm with a
small local products store. There are four of us, all close neighbors.
All working our butts off to make our projects
work. We already have
an intern from June 1st to September 1st. but we need someone for the
tough two weeks before the end of May to get all the plants in. (May
14 to end of May) It’s a pretty exciting time.
We can offer a small stipend hopefully amounting to $70 a week. We
have a lot of valuable information to share with someone looking ahead
to farm on their own. French would be an asset or at least a
rudimentary handling of the language which you would certainly
enhance. You will be exposed to mushroom growing, sturgeon smoking,
animal husbandry, wild foraging, and gardening, gardening, gardening.
And weeding. We would like our intern to work 6 or 7 hours a day but
that’s up to you if you want to push harder.
We offer in exchange room and board. You will be living with an actor
and sculptor and a son in the microbrewery business. We are good
cooks. You will have a clean quiet room. And a fresh water pond for
swimming. Bikes to take off and explore. We are close to Rigaud
Mountain so hiking is also on the table. We need someone independent.
Able to fend for themselves. And entertain themselves.
We are located near the small town of St. Eugene, Ontario, near the
Quebec Border. Or, half way between Montreal and Ottawa.
