Scheduled Weekly Hours: 35; Scheduled Shifts: 0830 – 1630

Temporary Full-Time, Approx. 23 months, Salary $40.88 – $44.43 per hour

Reporting to the Program Manager, Integrated Waste Management
Strategy, is responsible for the implementation of the Strategy;
researching, planning, evaluating, developing and coordinating regular
updates to the Strategy; coordinating, tracking and reporting on
progress on Strategy implementation; assisting with liaison with our
local municipal partners and waste management stakeholders, including
local businesses, charitable organizations, school boards, and
community groups; developing strategies for reduction, reuse,
recycling, advocacy initiatives and continuous improvement and
establishing linkages with other business units and Departments to
ensure approaches that support outcomes identified in the Strategy are
acted upon.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Successful completion of a University Degree in environmental
studies/science or related field or equivalent approved combination of
education and experience.
• Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated project management
experience in the field of solid waste management or related
environmental field and social marketing or major marketing campaign.
• Thorough knowledge of the waste management industry and related
practices and policies.
• Demonstrated project management experience in the 4Rs (reduction,
reuse, recycling, recovery) and pilot programs.
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license, free of serious offences
under the Highway Traffic Act.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of relevant Provincial and
Federal legislation.
• Experience in administering contracts, conducting waste audits
and/or advertising.
• Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies
including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self
management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
• Computer literacy utilizing MS Office applications and proficiency
in word processing, spreadsheet, scheduling, presentation applications
and specialized software relevant to the technical specialty.
• Strong research and evaluation skills and demonstrated skills in
conducting in-depth cost/benefit analysis and program development.
• Demonstrated presentation, promotional and public relations skills.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical issues to
stakeholders and various media and to deal effectively with the public
and government officials.
• Proven ability to exercise good judgement when providing regulatory
advice to businesses and when interacting with other government
agencies.
• Ability to delegate work and monitor the work of students,
consultants and contractors.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize work in
order to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.
