Primary Focus
The primary focus of this role is to provide
facilitation and analysis services to an assigned Liquids Pipelines business
area, synthesizing information and eliciting the actual needs of stakeholders,
not simply their expressed desires.
The Senior Business Analyst plays a key role in
understanding and ensuring that the solutions delivered by IT implementation
experts align with the needs of stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Typically, a senior business analyst takes on more
complex, high profile initiatives acting as a consultant for internal
stakeholders. They are responsible for maintaining a deep awareness of how a
business area works and helping the stakeholders explore solution options to
more effectively execute on their roles.
Among the many activities that business analysts
perform are:
  • understanding client problems and goals;
  • analyzing needs and solutions;
  • translating elicitation results into
    requirements;
  • strategizing;
  • driving change; and
  • facilitating stakeholder collaboration.
The key characteristics of a senior business analyst
include:
  • Breadth and depth of knowledge, and experience,
    in business analysis techniques used to elicit, analyze and communicate
    requirements;
  • Experience working on multiple initiative /
    project types in multiple business areas;
  • Intelligent business analysis work plan
    development identifying the tasks, deliverables and stakeholder time
    estimates needed for an initiative;
  • Strategic thinking, ensuring initiatives align
    with organizational goals and meets organizational needs;
  • Acting as an advisor ensuring solutions of value
    are delivered to business clients;
  • Curiosity with the ability to learn new domains
    in sufficient detail to communicate effectively with subject matter
    experts; and
  • Strong sense of initiative.
Knowledge
Has a good working knowledge of business analysis in
each of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK®) knowledge
areas.
Uses the widest variety of business analysis
techniques, as outlined in the BABOK®, and self corrects when
discovering the technique is not the correct one for the context and situation.

The Senior Business Analyst is:

    delivery as defined by the LPIT Scorecard; and
  • Contributes to positive business sentiment by
    understanding and documenting business capabilities and needs for
    translation into technical solutions.

Qualifications

Education/Certification
  • College or University degree in Computer Science
    or Management Information Systems
Years of Experience
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in the
    delivery and management of information systems within medium to large
    companies.
Technical and Business Knowledge
Organizational and Communication Skills
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
