The Grand River
Cons
ervation Authority (GRCA) has an international reputation for excellence in
managing the natural resources of the largest inland river system in southern
Ontario. Encompassing approximately 6,800 square kilometres, the Grand River
watershed has a population of almost one million people in 39 municipalities
and two First Nations. Designated as a Canadian Heritage River, the Grand River
and its major tributaries boast many outstanding human heritage features and
excellent recreational opportunities. The GRCA is committed to environmental
protection by delivering services that ensure the well-being of the environment
and its inhabitants.

General
Accountabilities
This position is
responsible to deliver outdoor education programs at GRCA Nature Centres and
will be required to work on evenings and weekends, as needed.
Specific
Accountabilities
1. Program delivery
to students, groups such as cubs and brownies and the general public, including
summer environmental day camps and park visitor service programs.
2. Administration
support where required.
Technical
Accountabilities
1. Strong
communication and interpersonal skills (public speaking/teaching skills). 2.
Knowledge of natural history, resource management, and ecology of Southern
Ontario. 3. Knowledge of GRCA operations and programs.
4. Basic computer
skills. 5. Demonstrated competency in the use of basic A.V. equipment. 6.
Demonstrated competency with basic outdoor education equipment (e.g.,
snowshoes, microscopes, hip waders, etc.). 7. Knowledge of Occupational Health
& Safety Act.
8. CPR and First Aid
Certified required
The pay range for
this position is Job Level 3 $17.40 to $21.76. The hours of work will vary
based on program bookings and will be on weekday evenings and weekends as
required.
