The Partner Project Coordinator will be
responsible for day-to-day implementation of activities and reporting to FVA
and AAR and ensure smooth implementation of the UK’s Big Lottery funded project
Improving food security and economic opportunities for women farmers and
their families in Muko
, Rwanda.’ The position
holder has a dual reporting matrix to the FVA Executive Director and AAR
Project Manager who will also be managing the project, and will be based in
Musanze District. The job holder will have frequent visits to other project
locations for necessary support and liaison with the district authorities and
national level.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate
    with the setting of project baseline and the development and
    implementation of monitoring plans and tools that capture quantitative and
    qualitative data to report on all project indicators.
  • Ensure
    the Project Activity Plan, terms and conditions for funding are
    effectively implemented and the terms of the project partnership agreement
    are upheld.
  • Review,
    and where necessary revise project work plans for effective and efficient
    implementation of the project.
  • Setup
    a network of women smallholder farmers’ groups to advocate and campaign
    for their rights.
  • Support
    and ensure the coordinated efforts in project implementation to achieve
    set outputs and outcomes.
  • Identify
    training gaps of women groups and facilitate designing capacity building
    programs.
  • Maintain
    a comprehensive schedule of all reporting requirements necessary for the
    project, and prepare and review project reports to ensure that they are
    accurate, clear, in the proper format and on time.
  • Strengthen
    the capacity and effectiveness of women smallholder farmers’ networks in
    the project target area.
  • Identify
    advocacy opportunities for women smallholder farmers’ networks and other
    women CSOs.
  • Frequent
    monitoring of project activities against plan to ensure effectiveness and
    efficiency.
  • Update
    the FVA Executive Director and AAR Project Manager and Head of Programs
    and Policy on the project progress and challenges.
  • Engage
    in community mobilization and sensitization on project plans and intended
    outcomes.
  • Ensure
    closer supervision and smooth implementation of the project activities and
    liaise effectively with other stakeholders.
  • Work
    closely with community women leaders, local leaders and district
    authorities to deepen relationship with the target beneficiaries and their
    institutions, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and duty bearers in the
    project areas through frequent discussions and organised capacity building
    programs.
  • Build
    an information base for best practices in women’s rights, economic
    empowerment and sustainable agriculture and share best practices with
    other national stakeholders.
  • Coordinate
    and network with the government institutions and other organisations at
    regional level and represent AAR in coordination meetings and other events
    at district and national level.
  • Take
    the lead in participatory reviews and reflections regularly in the
    project.
  • Produce
    quality and timely monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and annual reports, and
    ensure proper documentation of the process and changes of the project on
    the lives of the target beneficiaries and other actors. 
Required Skills and Experience: 
  • A
    graduate degree in sustainable agriculture, economic or social sciences
    and other related field.
  • A
    minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in women’s rights, sustainable
    agriculture practices, livelihood and economic development, participatory
    and field development programming.
  • Must
    possess strong writing and analytical skills and effective leadership,
    management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must
    possess participatory development skills.
  • Excellent
    English is mandatory.
  • An
    understanding of local knowledge and culture will be an asset.
  • Must
    possess analytical skills in public policy and laws relevant to the
    project and have quality understanding of social mobilization and
    community empowerment principles.
  • Proficiency
    in the use of standard computer software, especially Microsoft office
    packages.
  • Strong
    writing and communications skills in particular understanding and use of
    social media platforms, media engagement and developing communications
    strategies/plans.
