70% cheaper than concrete. EarthEnable’s floors are composed of natural
materials (gravel, clay, sand, and fiber) and are sealed with a special oil
invented at Stanford – a top university in the United States – that forms a
plastic-like seal on the floor, which makes it water-proof, hard, smooth, easy
to clean, and polished. They are already prevalent in modern homes in the
United States, and our company strives to become the leader in flooring in

will work closely with the company’s founders and senior leadership to scale
EarthEnable’s operations across Rwanda. There is significant opportunity to
lead the company and be part of its growth. This Operations Manager will
receive technical training from the Senior Operations Manager, experts in
earthen flooring, and on-the-job training in project management. This is a
field-oriented leadership position, with limited but consistent deskwork. The
successful candidate will be willing to get his hands dirty and work closely
with masons. We are looking for someone who is adept at detailed planning, a
quick learner, and a self-starter. In the medium-term, the position will be
based out of Bugasera or Rwamagana. The specific tasks of this role are as follows:
Plan
construction work and rigorously document the work accomplished on a daily
basis
Supervise
and audit the work of masons in installing floors
Manage
the recruitment of new masons
Train
newly hired masons in installing floors and oversee and evaluate their
apprenticeships
Source
materials needed for floors, including negotiating pricing for buying gravel
and sand in bulk
Manage
product development projects that experiment with new building techniques
Develop
additional ideas for future product development and improvement, based on input
from masons and customers
Support
senior management team in strategizing around cost reductions and marketing
Educational
level of at least A2, ideally in civil engineering or construction
Knowledge
and experience in construction (e.g. civil engineering studies, or relevant
work experience)
