Chemonics seeks a regional food
security specialist – livelihoods for Southern Africa under the ongoing
USAID-funded Famine Ear
ly Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET). The project is
the world’s premier provider of high-quality food security analysis and early
warning. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference
in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform food security and livelihoods monitoring,
analysis, and reporting in FEWS NET Southern Africa countries - Develop technical networks, capacity development and
guidance in livelihoods and food security analysis using the Household
Economy Approach - Provide leadership and collaboration in coordinating
regional livelihoods and food security activities and maintaining network
relationships - Assist the regional technical manager to ensure timely
delivery of high-quality livelihoods and related activities and products - Travel extensively within Southern Africa; some
international travel in Europe and the United States may be required
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in agricultural economics, agronomy,
nutrition, climatology, anthropology, social geography, or other relevant
discipline - Minimum five years of relevant experience in early
warning/food security information systems, food security analysis, and
related fields - Minimum two years of experience in application of
Livelihoods and/or Household Economy Approach analytical frameworks - Excellent computer skills; GIS applications and mapping
skills an advantage - Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Excellent spoken and written English communication
