challenging and rewarding opportunity requires expertise in
large-scale project management, partnerships in planning with First
Nation’s, environmental assessment and land use planning.

What can I expect to do in this role?

You will:
• work in partnership with First Nation communities to prepare
community-based land use plans
• provide representation, leadership and coordination of Far North
Crown land use planning and resource management initiatives and
projects (e.g. Ring of Fire, utility corridors)
• monitor and evaluate activities, recommend actions and requirements
to meet plans and schedules
• assume a key leadership role with regional, district and Far North
planners to identify policy and program implementation related issues
and develop recommendations for action
• build and maintain strong and effective liaison within various
ministries, agencies, field offices, Aboriginal peoples and
stakeholders to develop strategies and achieve program results
• contribute to the development of communications, training plans and
materials for Crown land use planning and resource management

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

You have:
• knowledge in resource management planning, land use planning and
related resource management theories and practices
• the ability to interpret, apply and ensure planning decisions are
compliant with relevant legislation and directives (e.g. Far North
Act, Crown Land Use Policy, Crown Land Use Atlas and amendments,
Strategic Land Use Plans, Environmental Assessments, development
proposals)
• knowledge of field operations and expertise in applying theories and
practices of ecosystem based management to aquatic and terrestrial
resources

Project Management Skills:

You have:
• the strong ability to plan, develop, assign, coordinate and monitor work
plans
• proven project management skills including planning, budgeting and
time management to develop a work plan and to monitor and evaluate
work progress
• demonstrated facilitation, mediation, problem-solving and conflict
resolution skills

Leadership, Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

You have:
• the ability to use tact, discretion and motivation to encourage open
communication
• advanced communication and presentation skills
• proven issue management and problem-solving skills including
strategic thinking
• the ability to provide leadership, guidance and direction to program
staff and planning teams

Salary range: $1,335.41 – $1,908.83 per week
