Greenhouse Worker

Location: Windham Centre, near Brantford & Simcoe, Southwestern Ontario
Greenhouse worker is needed to assist with the day to day operations
of a sprout growing facility. The greenhouse worker will work with our
current team to grow and harvest the sprouts. This position starts at
$11.00 and can increase as knowledge a
nd efficiencies are gained. All
aspects of sprout packing and production must be covered before any
increase in wages.
The applicant must have:
• Human resource management skills as they will be responsible for
insuring staff are the most effective at their jobs.
• Food safety training.
• Great time management and organization skills.
• Reliable method of transportation.
• An interest in agriculture, organic agriculture and horticulture.
We work up to 12 hour days on harvest days Mondays and Thursdays and 8
hour days on Wednesday and Saturdays, our seeding days and a smaller 8
hour harvest day on Tuesday. We are a year round operation.
Sprouts for Life is the largest grower of organic sprouts in Ontario.
The sprouts consist of two types, the greens, which are grown in soil,
and the hydroponic sprouts, which are just the sprouted seeds. The
soil grown sprouts are sunflower greens, pea shoots and wheatgrass.
The hydroponic sprouts include alfalfa, broccoli, radish, red clover
and various seed mixes. Sprouts for Life has been growing at a
previous location for 6 years, and now at the Windham Centre location
for almost three years and has been producing sprouts for over 10
years.
