Job Description

Artscape
is currently seeking a Residency and Programming Coordinator to join our team
at Artscape Gibraltar Point (AGP). Reporting to the Managing Director, the
Residency and Programming Coordinator will perform all administrative duties
related to planning, scheduling and implementation of programming at Artscape
Gibraltar Point. The majority of the candidate’s time will be spent on the
operational activities of the residency program. This is a full-time, salaried
position. Work schedule will vary and will include some weekends and evenings.
Artscape
Gibraltar Point is a 35,000-square foot community cultural hub nestled against
the magnificent natural backdrop of Toronto Island. Open year-round, Artscape
Gibraltar Point hosts music and art festivals, open studio tours, short-term
residencies, community celebrations, meetings and fundraisers each year. Since
opening in 1999, more than 1,000 artists have experienced the unique and
tranquil setting of the Artscape Gibraltar Point, which provides affordable
short- and long-term studio rentals for professional artists and arts
administrators seeking time and space to focus exclusively on their work. In
addition to weddings and corporate events, Artscape Gibraltar Point has hosted
meetings, workshops, small conferences and team-building events for over 700
not-for-profit and charitable organizations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Residency
Program Tasks
§                                
Manage all inquiries regarding
short-term residency program
§                                
Responsible for all booking
procedures related to the residency program, including preparing short-term
residency contracts, coordinating arrival/departures and collecting all
associated rental fees
§                                
Ensure the studios and bedrooms are
in adequate shape before occupancy
§                                
Responsible for preparing keys and
coordinating fridge spaces for artists in the communal kitchen
§                                
Facilitate tours for clients and
orientations for artists in residence
§                                
Update and manage booking software
accurately (Salesforce)
§                                
General office administration tasks,
including upkeep of office, filling systems and databases
§                                
Manage requests from artists while
they are in residence
§                                
Weekly meetings with Managing
Director and Superintendent
§                                
May at times support events
operations
Programmatic
Tasks
§                                
Act as first point of contact for all
programming enquiries
§                                
Support programming partnerships
currently in place, while seeking new and exciting  programming
partnerships
§                                
Support  programming involving
the tenants at AGP and Toronto Island community members
§                                
Program three to  four
exhibitions  in the hallway gallery space, and coordinate opening
exhibitions
§                                
Develop programming associated to the
AGP community gardens and manage administrative tasks related to garden
activity
§                                
Assist with fundraising events and
initiatives
§                                
Support public programming, such as
art markets, gallery tours, workshops and festivals
§                                
Assist with the research and
distribution of program marketing and sales initiatives
§                                
Coordinate content updates for
website and social media channels

Requirements:

§                                
Strong desire for a career in arts
management, marketing and/or artistic programming
§                                
Experience in the non-profit sector,
a background in visual arts and familiarity with Toronto’s arts professional
and emerging arts communities
§                                
Excellent administrative, finance and
computer skills, with superb attention to detail
§                                
Excellent communication,
collaboration and interpersonal skills
§                                
Excellent organizational and
multitasking skills
§                                
Strong analytical skills and good
judgment
§                                
Ability to trouble-shoot and solve
problems
§                                
Must have a G2 or G class license
§                                
Experience in marketing, sales and/
or communications is an asset
§                                
Experience in events, producing
and/or project management is an asset
§                                
Experience in programming and/or
curation is an asset
