Location: Downsview Park, including some off-site as needed, with an
expected move to the Rouge Park late in 2016
Reports to: Operations Ma
nager
Compensation: $35,360 (commensurate with experience)
Position Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for managing (growing where
needed) the volunteer team, coordinating and developing the Volunteer
Program and liaising with other TWC programs and other organizations
as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
Manage Volunteers
• Provide a positive, professional, and safe working environment at all times
• Recruit, screen, interview, and recommend appropriate placement for
all new volunteers including co-op students and interns
• Provide assistance with orientation and volunteer’s introduction to TWC
• Assist with scheduling and training of volunteers
• Responsible for retention of volunteers through recognition,
conflict resolution, regular communication, relationship building, and
other means
• Maintain volunteer records and data includingvolunteer monthly
hours(includes researching and potentially implementing software to
assist with this task)
• Ensure volunteers have needs met in order to fulfill their volunteer duties
• Act as liaise between volunteers and TWC personnel
Coordinate and develop Volunteer Program
• Keep abreast of current volunteer management methods through
literature perusal, conference attendance, networking and other
sources
• Evaluate, update and expand (if necessary) existing programs,
protocols/manuals and other material
• Assist with development of new and existing training protocols
• Develop new and innovative ways of improving experiences and
recognizing achievements of volunteers
• Participate in year-end Volunteer Program evaluation
• Assist with setting of Volunteer Program goals and strategic planning
• Provide information to the Executive Director and Operations Manager
for assessing Volunteer Program budget for the next fiscal year
Liaise with all other departments, ensuring effective communication
and coordination of volunteer work within all program areas
• Stay current on TWC’s policies and procedures, especially health and safety
• Work closely with staff and volunteers to keep program responsive to
centre needs
• Assist, when appropriate, with public relations, media, fundraising,
administrative duties and other programs as neede
Network with other organizations as needed
• Stay current on TWC’s policies and procedures, especially health and safet
• Liaise with other organizations on issues related to the Volunteer Program
• Build and maintain relationships with corporate, environmental, and
ngo partners
• Create new opportunities for networking and shared volunteer initiatives
Other responsibilities as needs arise
Knowledge and Experience:
• Minimum 3 years experience managing volunteers
• Graduate of a university or college program in a related discipline
Skills and Abilities:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent computer skills

• Valid driver’s license; own vehicle available for occasional use an advantage
