Volunteer Coordinates
of Service and Learning Opportunities (35%)
Together with World
Renew staff. Develop a regional strategy for the utilisation of volunteers and
short term staff in Malawi, Zambia an
d Mozambique, In coordination with World
Renew and Partner staff, identify and design service and learning volunteer
opportunities, Arrange in-country logistics for visitors, volunteers, interns
and groups (with field staff, partners and communities), Debrief visitors,
volunteers, groups, partners and communities and confirm their plans for future
engagement with cultural interpretation, providing guidance on implementation
of policies and procedures and helping to mediate in difficulties if they
arise, Identify and/or develop in-country orientation, cultural/contextual
awareness, program-specific education and debriefing resources to enhance
volunteer/constituent involvement in Word Renew’s programs in coordination with
field staff, other Bridgers and CORE/Global Volunteer Program staff, Assist
field staff/consultants
to build partners capacity in preparing for an managing visitors,
volunteers, interns, groups and church partnerships
CnC Coordination (35%)
Assist Country/Program Consultants to implement CnC initiatives in Malawi,
Mozambique and Zambia, Together with Partner Staff, facilitate “church
awakening” and “community analysis” events at selected CnC locations, Provide
follow-up visits and mentoring to local CnC groups and partners in order to
monitor progress and compile reports for World Renew and its donors
Monthly Resource development Team (CORE) Communication and Reporting (15%)
Act as a contact for the Global Volunteer Program and CORE regarding queries
and questions on the work of SAMT, Participate in the GVP/Bridger phone
calls and meetings in regards to the further development of Constituency
Relations programming for World Renew
Administrative Tasks (10%0
Maintain a database for volunteers who have served in SAMT, Design and maintain
a Monitoring and Evaluation framework for churches that have received CnC
training and the individuals who have attended the training, Pursue
opportunities for professional development as assigned by country team
Country Team Activities (5%
Actively participate in country team meetings to continually assist with
developing service learning strategies and policies, Contribute to the Southern
African Regional Team’s social media accounts, Other country team activities as
assigned by supervisor
Mature Christian capable of applying their faith to their work and their life,
Compassionate, respectful of other cultures and able to communicate
effectively, Commitment to the core agency development and relief concepts,
models and values, Proactive and able to work with minimal supervision,
Demonstrated ability to design, implement and evaluate volunteers and programs,
Experience and/or skills in “people management” especially with pastors,
volunteers and groups, Able to work, communicate and navigate through different
culture especially North American cultures, Able to understand and navigate
through church structures and bureaucracies, Able and willing to work in a team
setting able to develop team skills in others, Competence in all basic
Microsoft Office software (should be advanced in Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Competence in the use of internet and communication technology, Demonstrate
good time management skills and healthy work/life
balance,
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a
relevant field, At least 2 yrs of cross-cultural experience, Demonstrated
ability to work with people from other cultures and working in teams,
Experience with people from North America is an asset for this position,
Experience in the management and administration of programs or projects
