Resident Boarding
Master and Mistress

The academy is seeking applications from persons, who are not necessarily
teachers, interested in supervising and working with ad
olescent boys and girls
in the School’s Boarding Houses.  This is a full-time, well paid, live-in
positing to commence in January 2015 (term 2)

To be aware of and respond to the pastoral needs of students in the boarding by
doing all things possible to promote a strong culture of respect for others,
their interests and their property and eliminate any bullying or harassment, To
assist the other boarding staff in maintaining a culture which values academic
excellence and a commitment to doing as well as possible in academic studies,
To liaise with other resident staff on all matters associated with adolescent
development, To liaise with other boarding staff regarding social and
recreational activities, To organise a Sunday recreational activity for
boarders, To ensure other boarding staff are aware of any areas of apparent
concern so that they may be proactive in communicating and dealing with
students, To assist Housemasters in ensuring students are able to enjoy
positive experience as they move through to Year 12, Maintaining a clear and
accessible record of dealings with all students andparents, Monitoring and
assisting in the social and emotional progress of all students in Boarding, To
assist students with maintenance and care of their possessions, in particular,
clothing, To facilitate and encourage proper behaviour and etiquette at meal
times and encourage healthy eating habits and minimisation of wastage, To
liaise with the School Health Centre staff should students need medical
assistance, Preparation and supervision of time tables for boarding programs,
To keep accurate notes regarding students who have been dealt with in any
pastoral, organisational or disciplinary sense, To monitor the tidiness and
cleanliness of the Boarding Houses, To ensure that the students adhere to all
school rules and regulations in terms of personal conduct, academic endeavour
and presentation and such other duties as may be required from time to
time

Desired Attributes 

Have a high level of
interpersonal skills to understand and work with adolescents in a high school
environment, Have the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of
personalities, especially students and other staff, Be of sober disposition and
able to dispense discipline in affirm but fair manner, Be highly organised
regarding day to day routine and detail, Be punctual and reliable in relation
to duty days and times, Have the ability to show initiative and to work
independently and work during odd hours

Skills/Knowledge/Qualification 

The desirable
candidate must be a mature adult, over 40 yrs of age, A minimum of Diploma in
Education or Nursing from a reputable institution, Prior experience in a
boarding school is  not necessary but may be an advantage, Basic computer
skills including a preferred knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, or
the ability to readily learn and absorb training
