University of Agriculture and Natural Resources is inviting applications from
qualified candidates for the post of Network Engineer 1 post 

Qualifications:

Bachelor
Degree in Computer Sciences with a Credit or its equivalent from a recognised
academic institution, Those with CISCO or Network related qualifications in
design, internet

protocol (IP) video/voice or security will have an added
advantage

Responsibilities:

Other
duties as assigned from time to time, Systems Administration duties, Facilitate
the procurement of quality ICT equipment and services with the Procurement
Office, Train users, clients and peers, troubleshooting malfunctions of network
hardware and software, telephone and security systems to resolve operational
and security issues, Design, install, maintain and document a robust, secure
multi-tier university wide wired and wireless network, Interface with
international and local ISPs to deploy the proper infrastructure necessary to
maintain a robust connection to the global internet, Providing direction to
network development, upgrades and maintenance based on needs and global trends,
Providing periodic reports to executive management on network performance, band
with usage and other critical metrics, Develop and maintain network use
policies for the university, Managing assigned projects and programs to deliver
services in
 accordance with established objectives, Responding to queries from staff,
administrations, service providers and vendors on issues of network operational
and security issues,

Personal
profile:

Ability
to work in multi-disciplinary teams and spearhead technical projects, Good
analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills, Ability to implement
distrusted authentication and network accounting services using LDAP/Active
Directory etc, Unix/Linux and Microsoft Server Systems Administration skills,
Knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms and ability to use Linux based networking
monitoring and troubleshooting tools, A good understanding of network security
including firewalls, network vulnerability analysis and counter measures, A
thorough understanding of critical internet standards IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DNSSEC,
Web standards, SMTP, PO3P, MAP, SNMP, BGP and interior routine protocols,
Proven understanding of critical LAB, WLAN and WAN technologies including latest
Ethernet standards and layer -2 WAN protocols, Ability to design, analyse and
deploy complex switched networks that are able to support data, voice and video
