Climate Smart is a Vancouver-based social enterprise, providing small-
and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with training, tools, and
certification to profita

bly reduce GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions
generated by their business operations. Climate Smart emphasizes the
business case for GHG reduction: operational efficiencies, cost
savings, and competitive advantage. Climate Smart builds capacity
within SMEs by training key staff to develop strategies for ongoing
reductions in emissions and associated costs from energy, fuel and
waste that create economic as well as environmental benefits.

In 2010, Climate Smart launched the first municipally supported
climate change program designed specifically for the local SME
business community. Climate Smart’s training, certification, and
innovative data services are designed to link business-sector actions
to community-wide carbon emission reduction targets, while

case studies and analysis for community-emission modeling – utilized
by both partners and businesses to benchmark their progress against
emission and cost-saving goals. Climate Smart has worked with 775+
businesses and organizations to date.

reduce emissions.
