Position Summary:
The Communications Manager will be responsible for REEP’s core
communications and for maintaining and increasing the positive profile
of REEP in the community. The manager will oversee and track community
engagement with collaborative organizations and media outlets. Working
with a team of volunteers, the manager will have primary
responsibility for digital media, annual event and annual report.

Job Description
Lead the Core Communications of REEP
Responsible for REEP communications, including digital media (website,
newsletter, social media), Annual Report, promotional materials, and
media engagement, including:
• development of and adherence to REEP’s Editorial Calendar;
• creation and delivery of Social Media Strategy, with support from
volunteer team and other staff members for implementation; including
Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn;
• creation and delivery of website updates, with support from
volunteer team and other staff members;
• creation of standard message for REEP’s core and provide support to
program teams for their standard program messaging.
• Standard Messaging Training for staff and volunteers
• creation of REEP’s Annual Report
• Liaise with program leads and leadership team for content creation
• Responsible for the planning of REEP’s Celebrating Community Action
Annual Event
• Liaise with program leads and leadership team for planning and
determining awards to be given
• Responsible for regular collaboration within REEP’s staff to ensure
that programs and services support each other in their marketing and
communications.
• Work with REEP team to ensure that all REEP programs and services
maintain consistent REEP messaging and branding
Community Engagement
Work with the Executive Director and the Business Development Manager
to engage stakeholders in REEP’s work.
Support positive relationships with partner organizations
• Including:
• funders
• sponsors
• financial institutions
Responsible for building positive and productive relationships with
local and regional media outlets
• Including:
• Print media
• Radio
• TV
• Blogs
REEP Leadership
• Communications mentor to staff and RAIN and Energy Program area teams
• Supporting role as part of Strategic Planning team
• Supporting role with respect to fundraising and grant writing
Volunteer Oversight
• Recruit, train and oversee a team of volunteers to support the role
of this staff position
• Provide inspiring leadership to volunteer team
Qualifications/Requirements
• Post-secondary education in a communications discipline
• Self motivated, proactive, and have demonstrated experience in
organizing and prioritizing workflow;
• A high level of attention to detail and excellent follow-through skills;
• Demonstrated project coordination/management experience;
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written;
• Confidence in presenting technical and environmental information to
large, diverse audiences
• Highly computer literate in various software applications,
especially Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel and Access;
• Excellent working knowledge of WordPress;
• Excellent working knowledge of MailChimp, and Sprout Social, an asset;
• Working knowledge of design software, i.e. Adobe Illustrator, an asset;
• Ability to work cheerfully with a wide variety of people and organizations;
• Candidates should be willing to work some evenings and weekends;
• Volunteer management experience an asset;
• Experience working in a not-for-profit or charitable organization
environment an asset;
• Experience with Salesforce an asset;
• Knowledge of environmental issues (particularly energy issues and
climate change) an asset.
