We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about food, education
and health and / or community engagement.
The successful candidate will ideally posse
ss the following skills and
qualifications:
• Experience with “on the ground” organizing, including participatory
community development approaches, and building networks;
• Experience working within networks or non-profit organizations,
through program/project development or engagement;
• Has proven ability to build bridges, create partnerships, and
achieve consensus among diverse groups, stakeholders and
organizations;
• Experience working collectively with a team (including identifying
and supervising volunteers), as well as the ability to work
independently;
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to develop
networks/coalitions and events;
• Excellent communications skills, written and oral;
• Ease with communications technology including social media, 2.0
website management, databases, e-bulletins, simple graphic design,
webinar hosting, etc.;
• Bilingual, with excellent French (oral and written);
• Ability to work some flexible hours and to travel occasionally;
• Familiarity with existing research on school food an asset;
• Experience with fundraising an asset.
Responsibilities:
• Grow the Coalition for Healthy School Food in Quebec and across
Canada by providing information (e-bulletins, website), learning
opportunities (webinars) and hosting meetings to engage diverse actors
in the project;
• Coordinate the development of infrastructure and tools to support a
pan-Canadian dialogue on school food programs (including website,
animation guide, training for community animators, reporting
templates, popular education tools);
• Coordinate 5 roundtables (school table talks) in diverse regions of
Quebec in collaboration with local partners as a way to test and
develop methodology and tools for pan-Canadian dialogue;
• Collate lessons learned from the first year of the project to inform
the national dialogue planned for 2016;
• Facilitate the identification and documentation of promising
practices in school food programs in Quebec;
• Collaborate with others members of the Coalition for Healthy School
Food from across Canada.
This is a six- to eight-month full-time contract (with renewal
contingent on funding and performance). The position will be based in
Montreal at FSC’s office.
Salary scale: $45,000 – $55,000.
