The Sweet Potato is a full service natural and local food grocery
store located in the heart of the Junction in Toronto’s West End.
To provide assistance and support for maintaining computer hardware,
software, database, networks and the general functions of the office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) DATABASE MANAGEMENT
• Enter new products into database
• Make sure that item’s sweet deals are assigned to the correct department
• Keep the database up to date with regards to price changes and new products
• Setup and maintain all t sweet deals
• Keep accurate item descriptions (abbreviation consistency) in the database
• Scan and check products in the store in an orderly rotation schedule
double checking the accuracy of the database.
• Generate in-store barcodes and maintain up-to-date list of in-store
codes for each department
• Generate in-store signage and tabs
• Maintain the database of product prices for the entire store while
ensuring appropriate department margins are applied.
• Maintain customer and employee database
• Monitor saved transactions, store product use, and promo use.
2) TECH SUPPORT & FACILITY MANAGEMENT
• Liaise with outside tech support for any problems.
• Trouble shoot software and hardware problems.
• Maintain working relationships with all outside network (phone,
internet, software, hardware) companies
• Liaise with contacts regarding facilities management, including but
not limited to Pest Control, Utility companies, Landlord, Fire
Inspection, Health Inspection, Cleaners, and Handy-people
• Liaise and coordinate routine repairs and maintenance with HVAC,
Electrical, and Plumbing
• Ensure proper operation of facilities and fixtures (refrigeration)
and liaise with contacts regarding appointments and maintenance
3) OFFICE MANAGEMENT
• Manage and maintain office supplies and store supplies
• Handle mail, post office visits, couriers, etc
• Answer and route phone calls or messages, as per qualities and
standards of Customer Service
• Prepare documents as assigned
• Coordinate HR activities including scheduling interviews, orientations, etc
• Report staff and store problems to department managers and/or owners
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Excellent computer skills and 1-2 years database management experience
• Experience working with the public, delivering a high standard of
customer service
• Ability to handle multiple demands; calmness under pressure
• Communication skills – good listener, clear directions
• Organized, attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
• Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing
requirements of the job
