Consultant Position – IRM Evaluation

engage an independent consultant who will evaluate World Renew’s International
Relief Manager (IRM) Program. The evaluation will assess the IRM Program in its
current state, as well as assess where changes or enhancements need to be made.

Overview
World Renew, an
agency of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), is a
nonprofit, international development and disaster response organization, with
home offices in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, and Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
Key
Consultancy Objective
World Renew seeks to
engage an independent consultant who will evaluate World Renew’s International
Relief Manager (IRM) Program. The evaluation will assess the IRM Program in its
current state, as well as assess where changes or enhancements need to be made.
When a disaster strikes, IRMs respond on short-notice to manage and/or assist
in the implementation of a Disaster Response project. IRM’s come with extensive
professional and managerial backgrounds, as well as cross-cultural experience,
that serve them well in International Disaster Response (IDR) contexts.
Primary consultancy
areas to include (see
Terms of Reference for more detail):
- Design
an evaluation and develop the various evaluation tools/questionnaires
required to obtain information by: - Assessing
the effectiveness of the current IRM program - Examining
World Renew’s process of equipping IRMs to carry out their placement(s) - Examining
and making recommendations for the IDR team to better equip and engage
IRMs - Conduct
interviews via e-mail and telephone as needed - Create
a written report and present the findings to key stakeholders
Consultancy
Requirements
The independent
consultant should have:
- Experience,
both formal training and work experience, in the field of International
Disaster Response - Experience
in human resources management and organization change management - Experience
conducting evaluations, particularly program evaluations is required, in
Disaster Response programs is a definite asset - Knowledge
and/or experience in applying Humanitarian Standards is required
