SALARY RANGE: Range 10 $83,416 – $93,565 per year.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Toronto and Region Conservation Authority is one of Canada’s leading
agencies in the protection and restoration of water resources. As part
of this role, TRCA’s Restoration Services Division delivers a large
capital program of works that seek to mitigate flood and erosion
hazards, protect essential structures and public safety, and enhance
terrestrial and aquatic health across its jurisdiction.

As a Design Engineer with Restoration Services Division, you will
contribute to Authority programs by providing engineering design
recommendations, details and specifications on a variety of water
resources projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team of Project
Managers, surveyors, environmental technicians/technologists,
engineers and construction staff.

KNOWLEDGE:
• Bachelor’s degree in water resources or civil engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the design of in-stream works
(bank/bed stabilization, grade control, flow regime alteration,
infrastructure protection)
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD and engineering design software;
• Strong analytical skills, proficient in hydrologic and hydraulic
computer modeling;
• Knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures and practices
relevant to water management
• Valid Ontario Driver’s license.

SUMMARY OF MAJOR TASKS:
• Coordinate and conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling as it
relates to providing technical guidance to internal and external
designs.
• Work closely with the project team from project inception through
the construction process.
• Undertake site visits and provide construction inspections as required.
• Prepare input on and prepare Requests for Proposals, communications
and reports to senior staff and Authority Boards as required.
• Implement a solution-oriented approach and effective decision making
when developing engineering designs and providing technical review of
engineering studies
• Participate in program development initiatives as required.
• Attend and represent the Authority’s interest at public meetings
related to projects being carried out by Restoration Services
• Provide water management data to internal and external clients.
Develop and maintain effective client relations and liaise with
Authority staff, the general public, consultants, municipalities, and
other agency staff.
• Maintain state of the art knowledge in water resources engineering.
