Overvie

w:

The FD Manager will
play a critical role in ISAS’s growth as a young and dynamic charitable
organization. The FD Manager will work closely with the Managing Director,
Artistic Director, Communications Manager and the Board’s Fundraising Committee
to build and execute strategic fundraising goals across government and private
sectors, as well as with individuals and community leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Works
    with Managing Director to develop revenue projections for the year and set
    fundraising goals and strategies (including major gifts, grants, special
    fundraising events and in-kind donations)
  • Identifies
    funding opportunities (government bodies and foundations), and manages
    applications and relationships
  • Ensures
    that the organization is raising the funds and in-kind support it requires
    to meet its strategic goals as identified in its Annual Plan, helps
    develop a 5 year fundraising plan
  • Researches
    and develops new private sector funding opportunities
  • Builds
    relationships with existing donors and sponsors, and ensures donor
    recognition and reward
  • Maintains
    year-round communications with funders, including written reports, funder
    surveys and in-person meetings. Maintains and fulfills an accurate list of
    funder benefits.
  • Prepares,
    presents and fulfills comprehensive and tailored sponsorship
    recognition/benefits
  • Works
    within budget and secures donated goods, services and funds wherever
    possible
  • Undertakes
    special fundraising events in the off-season (Spring and Autumn)
  • Tracks
    and reconciles accounts receivable
  • Writes
    final report detailing recommendations for enhancing the development
    office activities for the following year’s season
  • Meets
    personally with planned gift prospects, confirmed donors, and their
    advisors as required
  • Develops
    and implements a donor relations and annual membership program
  • Works
    with the Communications Manager to create donor and sponsor-related
    communications materials, including solicitation and gift acknowledgement
    letters and reports
  • Establishes
    procedures for the tracking and qualifying of planned gift/major gift
    prospects and supports these procedures through careful record keeping
  • Keeps
    informed about the development field generally, and especially the tax
    aspects of charitable gifts and new legislation and revenue rulings
    affecting such gifts
  • Represents
    the company in a dignified and professional manner in all donor related
    activities. This includes festival Opening Night performances, galas,
    fundraising events, and other company functions as required

Qualifications:

  • Relevant
    post-secondary degree
  • Experience
    raising funds, ideally in the non-profit arts sector in Vancouver
  • Experience
    working for a charitable organization in Canada
  • Highly
    organized, self-motivated and able to work well under pressure
  • Excellent
    communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong
    interpersonal skills and ability to work with major donors
  • Proficiency
    in MS Office and database software
  • Passionate
    about arts and culture in Vancouver, and South Asian arts and culture
  • An
    existing network of arts donors and philanthropists is an asset

Arts Society:The Indian Summer Festival is a multi-arts festival for global
souls. Every July, for 10 days, Indian Summer hosts dozens of free and ticketed
events throughout Downtown Vancouver, featuring music, dance, literature, cuisine,
visual arts, film and more!

ISAS is a
charitable, not-for-profit, arts organization with a visionfor an inclusive,
diverse, and culturally-rich society. To achieve this, we commission and
presentsignificant local, national, and international programming that reflects
Vancouver’s position as a harbour for diverse arts, ideas, cultures and
traditions. Now in its 5th year, Indian Summer has distinguished itself as a
rare and necessary arts festival where worlds meet. The Indian Summer Festival
