Position Title: Organizer

Summary:


The Organizer is a member of a national organizing team working at the
grassroots level to ensure Electoral District Associations (EDAs) are
founded and receive ongoing support, with a strong focus on membership
and capacity building. Organizers help to identify quality candidates,
providing training and support so that campaigns are run effectively.
Travel within the region is necessary. Hours of work vary and will
include weekends and evenings. During an election, organizers are
required to work long hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establishes, trains and supports EDAs
• Recruits candidates in ridings without EDAs
• Supports and trains candidates
• Ensures candidates are registered with Elections Canada
• Responds to queries from candidates and EDA officials
• Maintains current contact information in party’s database (civiCRM)
for candidates and EDA officials
• Tracks data regarding candidates, EDAs and campaigns
• Ensures candidates and EDAs comply with party and Elections Canada
regulations
• Works on federal election campaigns as assigned
• Meets productivity standards as determined by the Executive Director
• Other duties and projects as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required or Desired:

• Ability to communicate persuasively and to write clearly and
concisely in English: French is an asset.
• Enjoy working with people and have a positive, professional,
courteous, and service-oriented attitude
• Self-starter, takes initiative and can work effectively without
daily supervision
• Team player with the ability to establish effective interpersonal
relationships
• Familiar with the Canadian federal political system, and the
principles, policies and culture of the Green Party of Canada
• Must have a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under pressure
• Excellent networking skills, ability to motivate volunteers
• Experience delivering training workshops
• Attention to detail and the ability to accurately manage large
amounts of electronic data
• Ability to use computer software, including spreadsheets, databases,
Google docs
• Political party or NGO organizing experience is an asset
