Job Descript
Momentum Mag is seeking a versatile and energetic editorial assistant
to join our editorial team and grow our integrated gear coverage, both
in print and online. We’ve combined two part-time positions into one
to give the candidate a taste of all facets of the editorial team,
with a strong component of the responsibilities in the gear
department. The candidate will be coordinating pick up/ drop off and
organizing gear inventory, coordinating a network of reviewers, fact
checking, writing, and editing gear posts. Concurrently, the candidate
will be working with the editorial team on sourcing photos,
researching, and writing articles, editing, and posting content
online. The ideal candidate must have a genuine interest in the urban
bicycle lifestyle, demonstrate creative vision, be detail-oriented, be
able to identify the products that will be most beneficial to our
readers, and write factual, informative, thoughtful, and engaging
product reviews. The candidate will work closel
y with the Editor-in-Chief & Managing Editor to manage the magazine’s
gear coverage and will thrive in a fast paced, environment. The
position is located in Vancouver, BC – sorry, no telecommuting.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Editor-in-Chief & Managing Editor to write,
assign, and edit copy for Momentum Mag and momentummag.com, with a
large component of the work being gear reviews.
• Develop and produce gear-related content on momentummag.com.
Contribute regular posts on gear news and product previews. write gear
reviews, and develop a team of freelancers to expand our gear
coverage. May include attending product launches.
• Assist in uploading print content to the website.
• Provide the editorial team with updates and schedules of what
products are new and what reviews are soon to be completed.
• Create gear-related videos, look books.
• Develop relationships with industry representatives to stay ahead of
gear trends and product news.
• Assist Momentum Mag’s sales and marketing teams in communications
with important industry contacts.
• Coordinating gear ordering and pick up and drop off of review items.
• Positive correspondence with companies throughout the gear review
process, from procuring to return and notice of coverage.
Eligibility
This position is funded in part by a government grant, which has the
following eligibility requirements:
1) A post-secondary graduate of a 2-year diploma and/or a 4-year
degree (with proof)
2) Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive)
3) Unemployed or underemployed
4) A Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident
5) Must not be a current beneficiary of EI
