CBC/Radio Canada’s Maintenance Services team is currently seeking a talented
and highly qualified Senior Application Developer to join the media expert
group. Based in Montreal, this position focuses primarily on the analysis,
programming and integration of applications in accordance with best practices
and established standards.
You are also
responsible for handling support and maintenance requests, as well as for troubleshooting
and debugging computer systems.
As Senior Application Developer, you have the following duties:
•Identify the
appropriate programming language for each target platform.
•Develop applications in the various programming languages, then test, debug
and document your code to ensure highly reliable system integration.
•Document architecture and technical solutions according to the internal
standards.
•Support and maintain applications, in addition to answer questions and fix
troubleshooting.
•Ensure effective implementation and integration of applications, as well as
the availability of appropriate documentation.
•Provide leadership in handling high-level technical issues .
•Produce implementation plans for approved changes, ensure that the various
stages of the system construction, integration, testing and implementation are
carefully planned and carried out.
•Research, analyze and document technical requirements of complex systems based
on the functionality required by the client.
•Analyze complex business requirements and recommend appropriate, efficient and
cost-effective solutions.
•Conduct feasibility studies for new technologies and draft detailed technical
specifications.
•Participate in the delivery of new applications and the maintenance/enhancement
of existing ones, with lead responsibility for technical issues.
•Coordinate application systems problem resolution with software vendors,
hardware vendors, and internal staff.
You possess:
•Bachelor’s degree
in computer science or the equivalent
•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Multi applications Senior
Developer role with one of the major development framework, such as .Net, Java
or Python
•Knowledge of relational databases, NOSQL and at least one ORM
•Understanding of the SOA architecture and its various possible
implementations. Strong interest in various techniques of integration
•Solid knowledge of development and deployment tools in a large company
(Source Management, Project Management, EDI)
•Knowledge of several of the following programming languages: Python, Perl,
PHP, Ruby on Rails, Java, Javascript, C, C +, C #, Shell scripting is an asset
•A strong interest in agile methodologies, Python, Linux and Open Source is an
important asset

•Experience working in a collaborative, teamwork-driven environment
•Up to date on the latest development technologies, trends and approaches,
while staying committed to projects and support requests
•Ability to act as a technical mentor
•Ability to learn other programming languages
•Knowledge of English
