Volunteer Toronto is a charity that promotes and celebrates volunteering in
Toronto. We connect people to volunteer opportunities across the city and
provide volunteer management training and guidance to non-profits. Our Digital
Storytelling project aims to tell the stories of Toronto’s volunteers through
Digital Storytelling, a way of telling one’s personal story by combining a
recorded first-person narrative with images (still or moving), and music or other
sounds.
The Digital Media Facilitator will take the project to the next stage by
training non-profit professionals to teach Digital Storytelling to their
volunteers to provide a way of sharing their personal stories. We’re looking
for someone who is a quick learner, has extensive video production experience
as well as the ability to facilitate media creation/storytelling workshops to
beginners.
The responsibilities will include:
Digital Storytelling Facilitation to non-profit professionals;
trained facilitators teach volunteers how to create their own digital stories;
kit which will include training plans, a written guide and other resources;
create digital stories and connecting with local schools to showcase them;
past attendees of the facilitator workshops to discuss how they’ve used their
Digital Storytelling skills;
promote Digital Storytelling through local radio stations and local TV
stations, and organizing the creation and implementation of a marketing
campaign to promote the digital stories.
Required Skills
and Experience:
production (including audio recording) and ability to use Final Cut Pro and
Adobe Premiere Pro
large groups
using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
The role will start in late November/early December and will run through until
the end of June 2015.
