Position Summary:
The Assistant Volunteer Coordinator for the 2014
Christmas Kettle Campaign is a full-time term employment position. This
individual will be an integral team member of the Salvation Army’s Annual
Christmas Kettle Campaign in Edmonton, Alberta. Major responsibilities will be
to provide support and assistance to the Special Event Coordinator/Kettle
Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator in the areas of administration,
database management, and recruitment of volunteers.
Reporting to: Special Event
Coordinator/Kettle Coordinator
Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Work as a team with the Volunteer Coordinator
  • Recruit, schedule and support Christmas Kettle
    Campaign volunteers
  • Ensure updated volunteer schedules are shared
    with the Area Team Leaders and that they are made aware of any additional
    changes in a timely manner
  • Assist in the maintenance of accurate records of
    all related activities of the campaign and ensure that necessary forms are
    completed and returned in a timely manner.
  • At the end of each campaign day, ensure that all
    kettles are accounted for and their proceeds securely locked away
  • Ensure that all kettle stands and bubbles are
    made ready for the next day
  • Provide comments and suggestions relating to your
    experiences during this campaign to the Special Event Coordinator/Kettle
    Coordinator for the preparation of a final report.
  • Other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • §Post-Secondary Education. Preference will be
    given to those graduated or currently enrolled in a Voluntary Sector
    Management Program, Business Administration/Public Relations or Human
    Resources. Related experience accepted.
  • § Computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Word).
  • § Enthusiastic team player with good
    communication and interpersonal skills.
  • § Strong decision making and organizational
    skills.
  • § Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • § Knowledge and interest in the programs and
    services this campaign supports and a commitment to fulfilling the mission
    of The Salvation Army.
  • § Adherence of Salvation Army policy and
    procedures.
  • § Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is
    required.
Terms of Employment:
  • § Full time term position for from November 3,
    2014 through December 24, 2014.
  • § Hourly wage of $13.50 per hour
  • § Security Check required
