Introduction -The
Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome (MLW) Programme is an internationally recognised centre for research and
research training, funded by the Wellcome Trust. In collaboration with
the University of Malawi, College of Medicine (COM), MLW is seeking a skilled
and dynamic biostatistician to lead the further development of biostatistics at
the Programme. The successful candidate will have in-depth experience of
statistical methods, as well as provide evidence of operating in a
health-related research environment.

Job Summary – Reporting to the Programme
Director, the Senior Statistician will provide leadership in the further
development of statistical services at MLW and the University of Malawi,
College of Medicine (CoM), focusing on statistical analysis, teaching and
mentoring. The post holder will promote a strong collaboration between
MLW-CoM in Blantyre and the biostatistics and data teams at the Liverpool
School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and University of Liverpool.

boards and other advisory groups, Assist the Data Manager in the review and
oversight of data base management activities, Further development and
implementation of the MLW Statistics Service Strategy, Deliver undergraduate
and post graduate lectures, seminars, tutorials and short courses for MLW
staff, Undertake high quality research in applied biostatistics linked to the
research strategy of MLW through research collaborations with MLW/CoM
researchers and others

Qualifications and Experience – A first
degree and a postgraduate degree in Statistics with a major component of
medical Statistics or similar, A proven record of high quality statistical
support and applied statistical research, Experience in a health related
research environment, a record of publishing original research in peer-reviewed
journals with some experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
