TORONTO POLICE SERVICE
Salary: $80,137.44 to $90,660.96 annually

Summary of Function:
Performs video production duties including camera
operation, script writing and editing; provides video operational support
services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Produces, writes, shoots and edits video
    productions for training, corporate communications, public service videos
    and news releases. May be required to create videos with closed captioning
    for the hearing impaired or videos in different languages.
  • Coordinates all aspects of location shooting,
    including requesting permission from external agencies and arranging the
    required equipment and personnel. Offers direction and guidance to Service
    members and non-Service personnel during the production process.
  • Attends crowd management situations and critical
    incidents to record and transmit live video and audio signals to command
    centres, as required.
  • Analyzes and edits video and audio evidence as
    required.
  • Maintains a “stock” footage library and a
    “master” library of completed productions.
  • Answers telephone, e-mail and in-person inquiries
    from Service members, members of the media and/or members of the public.
  • Assists with the provision of information and
    material to the TPS website.
  • May be required to perform the duties of the
    Audio-Visual Operator and/or assist other members of the unit as required.
  • Maintains equipment to ensure its proper working
    operation and arranges for necessary maintenance as required.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of new products
    and techniques and makes recommendations where appropriate. Obtains and
    submits quotes for the purchase of equipment. Assists with the preparation
    of tenders as required.
  • Attends and testifies in court, as required.
  • Performs typical duties inherent to the position.
Requirements:
To be considered for this position, you must meet the
following requirements:
  • Must not have been convicted of a criminal
    offence for which a pardon has not been obtained. If a pardon was
    obtained, proof of pardon must be provided. If a conditional or absolute
    discharge has been received, proof that the RCMP has sealed the records
    must be provided.
  • Must have conformed, presently conform and
    continue to conform to the Core Values of the Service.
  • Successful completion of a university degree or
    college diploma/certificate in a related field, or an equivalent
    combination of education, training and experience.
  • Must have a minimum of two years’ recent
    experience in a corporate, broadcast or technical environment.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of current
    equipment operation and production techniques.
  • Must have a valid Ontario Driver’s License and
    have (or be willing and eligible to obtain) a Toronto Police Service “Blue
    Card.”
Rated Competencies:
Competencies may be measured through various selection
tools such as test(s) and/or interview:
  • Must have proficient knowledge of current
    equipment operation and production techniques.
  • Must have a solid understanding of analog and
    digital video format.
  • Knowledge of video transmission technology is
    preferred.
  • Must have excellent organizational,
    interpersonal/customer service and communication skills both written and
    verbally to effectively deal with members and external agencies.
  • Must have keen attention to detail and accuracy,
    and the ability to problem solve.
  • Must be able to work to deadlines under a high
    pressured environment.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in
    a team environment.
  • This position requires the incumbent to work
    flexible hours, which includes shift work, as well as being in an
    “on-call” rotation.
  • A demo reel of recent production work is
    recommended.
Probationary period is six months.
