Position Scope:
The Director, Business Development
is accountable for developing and executing a strategy that supports the
strategic growth of a major rewards program over a 3-5 year horizon. The
successful individual will have a proven track record of identifying, engaging
and closing key markets, categories and prospects. Our client is looking for a
true senior-level hunter sales person who will manage all introductory and
follow-up discussions, lead agreement negotiations, and will work with the
Client Services team for partner hand-off at the appropriate moment. The
Director, BD will develop a successful pitch strategy for targeted prospects,
and will be adept at exercising the right levels of judgment and leadership that
will drive relationships to closure within a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
- Identify
prospective Sponsors within defined categories - Lead
pitch strategy on a prospect by prospect basis - Drive
initial discussion to NDA, ensuring that we secure right to bring the
strategy and economics to the table - Bring
relationship to closure – negotiate contracts and support
renewals/transitions from pilot, if required by Client Services - Coordinate
and communicate with cross-functional teams, leveraging subject matter
experts where necessary to maximize value, credibility, and accuracy with
Sponsor prospects (for example, marketing, analytics, legal, client
services, etc.) - Manage
and lead any and all direct reports against clear objectives and goals - Contribute
to revenue and expense forecasting processes - Contribute
to pipeline management process
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Advanced
user of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - Contract
negotiation experience, through demonstrated track record of negotiating
success - Strong
leadership capabilities – the ability to inspire and lead both directly
and indirectly - Excellent
strategic judgment as it relates to partnering and negotiating - Ability
to build and execute against a long-term sales strategy - Exceptional
relationship management skills – ability to work effectively at the most
senior levels within an organization in order to earn trust - Consultative/solution-based
selling experience, with an ability to analyze a prospect’s business and
challenges, and coordinate solutions to address identified problems in
order to help them to achieve their strategic business objectives - A
strong, trusted internal and external network, which will demonstrate your
ability to quickly establish credibility by being engaged, committed and
knowledgeable - Ability
to inspire excitement about, and participation in, BD initiatives from
across the organization and gain trust quickly with external prospects to
keep the process moving forward - Ability
to travel and work flexible hours as required
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary
education (University or College) - Minimum
of 8 years of directly related work experience in business development and
loyalty programs, ideally from the retail industry or a financial
institution - Specific
experience in solution sales - Minimum
of 5 years supervisory/management experience - Bilingual
in English and French a strong asset
