Broadcast
Technologist
Reporting
Reports directly to
the Manager, Infrastructure
Duties
- Assist
Media Service with setting up and troubleshooting file transcodes and the
related issues. - Troubleshoot
and maintain various Broadcast servers, computer servers, and Non-linear
editors used in Digital media workflows - Troubleshoot
and repair of traditional broadcast equipment such as, video master
control switchers, routing switchers, and supporting infrastructure. - Maintain
equipment and repair service as required at both component and board level
to maintain a high level of performance for all operations. - Assist
in the installation and commissioning of new facilities and/or addition or
modification of existing facilities. - Make
timely field maintenance visits to transmitter locations. - Keep
Manager informed on all repairs and maintenance issues or other matters
affecting operations. - Personally
be aware of and involved in any matters concerning the safety of personnel
in the repair shop, related to equipment. Ensure safety issues are addressed
with employees immediately. - Update
and maintain drawings and create new ones for assigned projects. - Provide
operators and clients with professional, courteous, and timely technical
support. - Perform
routine and preventive maintenance of computer systems and networks.
Qualifications
- Completion
of a 2 year Technician program or a 3 year Technologist diploma in
Electronics with a specialization in audio-video or a related field, or
equivalent knowledge of the field. - Knowledge
of computer equipment, especially servers and OS (Windows and Mac) is
essential. - Strong
knowledge of system work flow. - 2-4
years of employment and/or equivalent knowledge base. - Knowledge
of ATSC standards, digital signals, file formats, conversion methods. - Experience
with tapeless media production workflows. - Experience
with broadcast transmitters and the mechanical equipment supporting them. - Experience
with installation and wiring of broadcast equipment. - Ability
to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines. - Ability
to apply logical troubleshooting skills. - Service
oriented. - Attention
to detail and ability to multi-task. - Excellent
analytical skills and ability to problem solve. - Project
management and time management skills. - Team
Player and ability to work independently.
