Duties and Responsibilities:
• Define the Fund’s risk profile and put in pla
ce frameworks (policies,
procedures & systems) for identification, assessment, measurement,
quantification, mitigation and reporting risk exposures to management and the
board
• Develop an integrated risk management plan in line with the organizational strategic plan on annual basis
• Assess risk exposures associated with investment proposals/projects and
recommend risk mitigation measures to
the Management Investment Committee (MIC) and the Investment and Project
• Management Committee of the Board (IPMC)
• Undertake a review of the Fund’s operating environment and its corporate
strategy to identify significant exposures and advise the Risk
• Management Committee (RMC) and the Audit & Risk Assurance Committee (ARC)
of the board
• Promote a culture of risk-awareness and control across the Fund through
sensitization and training of all staff.
• Develop, test and maintain a Fund-wide Business
Continuity Plan
• Supervise and provide leadership to the staff in the Risk Management Unit to
ensure effective performance.
• Develop a Balanced Scorecard for the Risk Management Unit in line with
organizational objectives; monitor and measure performance accordingly.
• Prepare budgets for the activities of the Risk Management Unit and undertake
continuous budgetary review to ensure optimal utilization of resources
• Establish internal policy compliance monitoring mechanisms and foster a
culture of compliance with policies and procedures across the Fund.
Experience:
• At least 8 years of work experience in a busy commercial entity, preferably
in a financial institution, at least 3
of which in risk management and/or audit at senior management level.
Skills and Competencies:
• Strong grasp of Enterprise Risk Management principle and philosophy
• Strong grasp of national and international economic, legal and technological
trends.
• Strategic orientation, organizing and planning skills.
• Leadership and people management skills.
• Excellent presentation/communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams.
• Strong analytical and problem solving
skills.
• Proficiency in computer applications.
Education Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline e.BCOM, BBA, BSC. Accounting
& Finance, BSC. QE etc
Professional Certification:
• Relevant professional qualifications e.g. ACCA, CPA, CFA, FRM, MSC or PGD
Risk management, Actuarial etc.
• Membership to relevant professional bodies.
