The primary objectives are:
  • Provide LHD wide direction and leadership as the
    principal HIM specialist for health information functions of all
    components of the clinical services of FWLHD, in particular in relation to
    strategy, policy formulation, standardisation of practices, education,
    reporting and legislative requirements.
  • Provide strategic and professional leadership,
    governance and accountability for staff.
  • Function as the principle reference point for
    health information management related matters for all levels of staff
    within the LHD.
  • Manage the staff of the HIMU to ensure that
    strategic goals and standards of practice are met and maintained.
  • Manage the Patient Administration System to
    ensure processes achieve the unique identification of patients/clients,
    meet Data Collection requirements and support the District to meet its
    strategic and performance goals.
  • Lead the transition of paper-based health care
    records to the electronic health record environment.
  • Provide professional advice and services to
    achieve key corporate goals and agreed service targets and optimisation of
    funding in an ABF framework.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative requirements
    in relation to release of health information, patient privacy and health
    records management.
  • Apply State and National policies relevant to
    health information management to the rural setting.
