Heinrich Boll Foundation Scholarships for German and International Students

Applications are open for Heinrich Boll Foundation
scholarships for German and International students. The foundation grants
scholarships to approximately 1,000 for pursuing undergraduate, graduate
& doctoral programme in all subjects offered at universities of applied
sciences or universities of the arts in Germany. There are two types of
scholarships i.e. student scholarship and doctoral scholarship which is offered
for those students who gained their university entrance qualification in
Germany to study in Germany or EU country and for those students who
gained their university entrance qualification outside of Germany to
pursue studies in Germany.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are offered to all subjects offered at universities of
applied sciences or universities of the arts in Germany.
Course Level: These scholarships are available for pursuing
undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral degree level.

Scholarship can be taken at: Germany (German students can pursue
their higher studies in Germany or an EU country)
Eligibility: 
Student scholarship: Applications are possible before you begin
your study programme or within the first three semesters.

Doctoral scholarship (PhD): Applicants must provide proof that they
have been accepted as a doctoral student by an institution of higher education
in Germany or an EU country.
-General: Special (but not exclusive) focus groups are: First-generation
students, students with a migrant background, or students from universities of
applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’). Students in MINT study programmes
(mathematics, informatics, natural sciences, or technical subjects), especially
with an environmental focus (e.g. environmental studies, climate studies,
renewable energies etc.).
journalism programme: The programme is aimed at students with a
migrant background who want to become journalists. Funding is not limited
to students in a journalism studies programme.

International students of all subjects in a MASTER’S programme or
doctoral programme, who gained their university entrance qualification from a
school outside of Germany and who would like to study in Germany.
-Special (but not exclusive) focus regions are: Central/Eastern Europe, EU
neighbourhood/CIS; Middle East/Northern Africa; transition and newly
industrialised countries as well as conflict regions worldwide.
-Applications are possible before you begin your Master’s programme or within
the first semester (at the time of application).
-Applicants must have already obtained a first university degree.
-Good or very good knowledge of German is a requirement. The selection
workshops are generally held in German (if a scholarship is granted, additional
German language courses can be financed).
Scholarship Open for International Students: International Students can apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Description: The Heinrich Boll Foundation grants scholarships to approximately 1,000
undergraduates, graduates, and doctoral students of all subjects and
nationalities per year, who are pursuing their degree at universities,
universities of applied sciences (‘Fachhochschulen’), or universities of the
arts (‘Kunsthochschulen’). We expect our scholarship recipients to have
excellent academic records, to be socially and politically engaged, and to have
an active interest in the basic values of the foundation: ecology and
sustainability, democracy and human rights, self determination and justice.
Number of award(s): 1,000 scholarships are offered.
How to Apply: The mode of applying is online. Application process is as
follows:
1. Check if you are among the special focus groups in this application round
2. Gather information on the application process and the requested documents
3. REGISTER for the online application portal
4. Provide the requested information in the ONLINE APPLICATIONPORTAL5. After uploading all of your documents, submit you
application before the end of the application deadline.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadlines are 1 September 2013 and 1 March 2014 for
students of all subjects who gained their university entrance qualification in
Germany and who wish to do their doctoral studies in Germany. International
students of all subjects in a MASTER’S programme, who gained their university
entrance qualification from a school outside of Germany and who would like
to study in Germany can apply till 1 March 2014.
