The Rwanda Population Health Implementation and
Training (PHIT) Partnership, is a collaboration between the Rwanda Ministry of
Health and Partners In Health (PIH), with support from the National University
of Rwanda School of Public Health, the National Institute of Statistics,
Harvard Medical School, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, U.S.A, This
partnership, funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation African Health
Initiative, will enable the first rigorous evaluation of effectiveness, cost
and overall impact of a comprehensive approach to deliver public health
services in resource-poor districts in rural Rwanda. The partnership strives to
provide an evidence-based road map for the global health community with the
goal of obtaining a higher standard in health care delivery in Africa while
strengthening health systems and developing research capacity.

Position Overview:
The Associate will provide high-level research
support to the Co-Principal Investigators, including conducting literature
reviews, drafting manuscripts, editing scientific and policy documents,
coordinating author teams, and shepherding manuscripts through the publication
process. The Fellow will support other ongoing research and programmatic
activities of the Rwanda PHIT Partnership including administrative and
communications support, in addition to coordinating meetings.

responsibilities include as-needed programmatic support, editing, writing,
speech-writing, as well as administrative and research activities. The
candidate for this position must be highly self-motivated, demonstrating
exceptional attention to detail and diplomacy.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of ideas for, and
drafting of full manuscripts with colleagues in the Rwandan health sector
and the Rwanda PHIT Partnership - Data cleaning, management, and analysis
- Research and write literature reviews that are
robust and flawlessly contemporary - Notify colleagues of all new relevant calls
for papers, abstracts, and presentations - Edit scientific and policy documents for
style, enhancing content based on current literature - Coordinate submission, review, and editorial
process for research articles - Contribute to other ongoing Rwanda PHIT
Partnership related projects - Develop conference presentations, write
speeches, and prepare other documents as needed - Support administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications: (include education, experience and
language skills required)

- Master’s or advanced degree in the health
sciences, or public health (Alternatives considered: degree in progress,
or bachelor’s degree with commensurate experience) - Fluency in English
- French and Kinyarwanda preferred
- Substantive experience within a health-related
field, preferably in a low-income setting - Significant knowledge of global health
research and policy literature - Experience in conducting research, writing
manuscripts, and organizing timetables - Exceptional written and oral communication
skills with advanced diplomatic instincts; ability to gracefully and
humbly work within challenging professional contexts - Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize
projects with attention to detail - Demonstrated ability to collaborate with
professionals at all levels in diverse settings; must be flexible,
reliable, responsive, and resourceful - Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and familiarity with at least one statistical software package
(Stata, SPSS, etc.) - A dedication to global health equity
